Spring Classes and New Fabric Lines at Inman Quilt Cottage

          Spring is springing, flowers are blooming, and rain is falling.  It’s time to make some new quilts and projects for yourself, your home or a gift for a friend.  Join us for a few classes including a seasonal quilted banner, the Bow Tucks purse (we made our’s in beautiful Kaffe Fassett fabrics), and learn to make the New York Beauty block using paper piecing techniques. Also stop by to see our new fabric lines including Kaffe Fassett, Moda and new lines coming from Michael Miller and Kaufman.

Upcoming Classes
Bring your sewing machine with which you are familiar and basic supplies such as snips, a seam ripper, etc.  We recommend glass head pins for piecing which you may purchase here.  Cutting mats and irons are provided.  Call or e-mail us in advance to reserve your spot and unless a fabric kit is included in the price, please come by to choose and purchase your fabrics in advance.

Motif Banner:  Make a rooster banner measuring 12” x 16” to hang up in your kitchen or give a friend using quick and easy fusible appliqué.  We’ll also cover binding techniques to finish your piece.  Thursday, April 16th from 6 to 8 p.m.; Cost, $15 for fabric kit and class plus $24 for the book which includes 14 seasonal banner patterns.

Friendship Star Quilt:  Beginning to intermediate quilters, come learn half-square triangle piecing to make a Friendship Star wall hanging or baby’s quilt measuring 34 ½” x 36 ½”.  Saturday’s, April 25th, May 2nd and May 9th from 10 a.m. to noon.  Cost, $30 plus purchase of the book, Start Quilting by Alex Anderson and materials to make the quilt top (12 fat quarters, 1/4th yard for inner border and 1 yard for the outer border).

New York Beauty Block:  Come learn to paper piece a classic New York Beauty block to master paper piecing techniques and curved piecing in this one-night technique class.  Learn the skills to make a stunning New York Beauty lap quilt using the pattern by Fons and Porter.  Tuesday, May 12th from 6 to 8 p.m..  Cost, $10 plus the pattern, $7 plus four fat quarters.

Bow Tucks Purse:  Make a beautiful and functional purse from Penny Stuges’ Quilts Illustrated pattern with drawstings at the sides, many easy inner pockets and an outer pocket.  Saturdays, May 23rd and 30th, 10 a.m. to noon.  Cost:  $20 plus pattern, $7 and fabrics of your choice.
